JYA invites for publication here a copy of the classified China spy report prepared in late 1998 by the Select Committee on U.S. National Security Military/Commercial Concerns with the People’s Republic of China, now being selectively leaked by the White House to cover its ass.

A committee spokesman said by telephone (202-226-3511) on May 17 there is no date set for its release, that release will come by a press conference and simultaneous posting on a House Web site. And that the committee is outraged at White House leaks of favorable parts.

Our concern is that too little information will be released in the course of dealmaking between the White House and the House and their mutually insane secrecy obsession in the name of "national security."

We have circulated a call for an illicit copy of the report to accelerate public release. So far none has arrived, but who knows what genuine public spirit will spring (as compared to that of elected officials).

We figure that the PRC has a copy. If so, send it over. Thank you very much.
